The Open Gives Back

When most golf fans think of the RBC Canadian Open they think of terrific golf moments – like Tiger’s 213-yard bunker shot to win the title in 2000 or Nick Taylor’s 72’ putt to win in a playoff and snap a 69 year Canadian drought. While what happens on the turf inside the ropes is always a spectacle, it’s what happens outside the ropes that truly makes the championship special.

Since coming on board as title sponsor of the RBC Canadian Open in 2008, RBC along with Golf Canada, have raised over $10 million for charitable organizations across Canada. Throughout its history, Canada’s National Open Championship has generated more than $60 million in charitable proceeds for important causes.

In 2024, an additional $1.2 million was raised to the charitable and community impact.

  • Golf Canada Foundation

The Golf Canada Foundation is the official charity beneficiary of the RBC Canadian Open and the leading source for golf philanthropy in Canada, awarding more than $7.3 million in grants and scholarships since 1979.

The Foundation inspires young players to benefit from the game of golf in gaining strong core values, building character and living a healthy lifestyle.

The primary charitable recipient is First Tee – Canada.
